Sensible? Gov Yari of Zamfara state in Nigeria says God sent Type C Meningitis to punish Nigerians for their sins!

Background

  • Zamfara state has been worst hit by the outbreak of Type C Meningitis, it has been reported that over 200 persons are dead in that state while many others are receiving treatment.
  • Doctors under the Nigeria Medical Association, Zamfara state chapter accused the state government of not being proactive despite warnings.
  • These are snippets of what the governor said, 

  1. "What we used to know as far as meningitis is concerned is the type A virus. The World Health Organization, WHO, has carried out vaccinations against this type A virus not just in Zamfara, but many other states. However, because people refused to stop their nefarious activities, God now decided to send Type C virus, which has no vaccination".
  2. “People have turned away from God and he has promised that ‘if you do anyhow, you see anyhow’ that is just the cause of this outbreak as far as I am concerned".
  3. “There is no way fornication will be so rampant and God will not send a disease that cannot be cured"
  4. “The most important thing is for our people to know that their relationship with God is not smooth. All they need to do is repent and everything will be all right”

  • We are flabbergasted. perplexed. Like seriously?
  • Only in Nigeria can 'intelligent' people like this become governors. 
Conclusion
  • Dear people of Zamfara state, please vote wisely in 2019 and pray that no unserious person ever becomes your governor again if you ever want to move forward as a state.
